Operating since 1963 and once located in a road-side lot at 3005 South Croatan Highway in Nags Head, North Carolina, Dowdy's Amusement Park is now defunct and the land is for sale.  Originally listed for sale in 2005 for $4.8 million, the rusty old rides were finally removed in August 2009.   The removal event was one we happened to stumble upon, and we were able to spend a little time taking pictures while talking with the mechanic who was disassembling the rides.  Dowdy's was recently reported (Aug 2011) to be still up for sale at $3 million.
